These works, produced by artist Mark Johnsen, are prints, each capturing the texture, color and variety of minerals. Like an optical illusion, they resemble a bed of river rocks, but they are flat, done in relative immediacy in the artist’s studio, as opposed to cooked in the bowels of the Earth.
The Earth and It’s Rocks is on view at the California College of the Arts, San Francisco Campus, until August 15. At Cranium Corporation, we will present a fresh iteration in the fall of 2015. Stay tuned for those dates.
Mark Johnsen is a printmaker/photographer that lives in Northern California. Some of his recent exhibitions include; Classic Rock, held at Clark’s Unicorn Emporium, San Francisco, and A Range, Arranged, held at Isabelle Percy West Gallery, Oakland.
